Before you start work for Dartmouth Hitchcock (D-H), the Medical Staff Office will complete the credentialing and privileging process. Credentialing is the process of obtaining, verifying and assessing the qualifications of a licensed health care practitioner, as required by the Joint Commission and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the D-H Bylaws. Privileging is the authorization that the D-H Boards of Trustees grants a practitioner to provide specific services based on factors such as license, training, experience, etc. The D-H credentialing/privileging process takes approximately 8 weeks. Applicants are encouraged to keep this time frame in mind.
