The Heart & Vascular Center

Why the Heart & Vascular Center

At Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, our Heart & Vascular Center brings together cardiology, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery to provide truly integrated, patient-centered care. As Center Director, I am proud to lead a program that combines clinical excellence, innovation, and education at the highest level. Our Center represents one of the most comprehensive and advanced cardiovascular programs in northern New England.

Our inpatient service is expanding and we are creating new space designed to meet the increasing demand for advanced cardiovascular care. This expansion features modernized patient care spaces, enhanced procedural capacity, and a care model that promotes close collaboration between cardiologists, surgeons, hospitalists, and advanced practice providers. This expansion not only strengthens our ability to care for patients across the full spectrum of cardiovascular disease, but it also creates an unparalleled environment for clinicians to practice, teach, and innovate.

Here you will find specialists who partner across disciplines, to care for patients with the most complex cardiovascular needs while advancing research, education, and innovation.

Our mission is bold and we want you to join us.

The work you’ll do

  • A team with significant depth
Join an integrated heart team spanning cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and electrophysiology. You’ll care for the full spectrum from STEMI and advanced heart failure to structural heart disease and complex aortic pathology across cath labs, hybrid ORs, ICUs, and clinics with nurse-led pathways and strong APP autonomy.

  • High-volume, team-based care
As a regional referral hub for northern New England, you’ll see breadth and depth: PCI, TEER/MitraClip, TAVR, complex ablations, carotid and peripheral interventions, and open/endovascular aortic repair supported by 24/7 STEMI coverage and advanced imaging (TEE, CTA, cardiac MRI).

  • Innovation that changes outcomes
Plug into data-driven practice using national registries (e.g., ACC/NCDR) and continuous QI. Collaborate on translational projects with Dartmouth engineering and health-policy partners, and participate in clinical trials across structural heart, arrhythmia, heart failure, thrombosis, and vascular surgery, bringing discovery straight to the bedside.

Scientific strengths & Infrastructure

  • Research Programs
Cardiovascular Epidemiology & Outcomes; Vascular Biology & Thrombosis; Electrophysiology & Arrhythmia Mechanisms; Heart Failure & Myocardial Recovery; Structural Heart & Valve Innovation with clinician-scientist teams linking bench discovery to bedside impact.

  • Shared Resources
Advanced Cardiac Imaging (3D echo, CT, MRI) and 3D printing for procedural planning; Hybrid OR & Cath Lab simulation suites; Biorepository & Hemodynamics Core; Device Prototyping with engineering partners; Data Science, Biostatistics & Registry Analytics (ACC/NCDR) to power QI and trials.

  • Translational Edge
Image-guided interventions in hybrid environments enable first-in-patient protocols, AI-assisted echo/CT workflows, and patient-specific models for TAVR/TEER and complex aortic repair, moving novel methods from feasibility to standard of care.

  • New Investments
Expansion of structural heart and complex EP capacity, modernization of hybrid ORs and cath labs, targeted recruitment of surgeon- and cardiologist-investigators, and internal seed funding to accelerate multi-disciplinary studies and industry-sponsored trials.
