Dartmouth Health’s Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a skilled and versatile General Anesthesiologist to join Valley Regional Hospital, a federally designated critical access hospital serving the needs of Sullivan County, New Hampshire, for more than 130 years.
This is an opportunity to practice high-quality anesthesia care in a community hospital where your expertise makes a direct impact. You’ll work closely with surgeons, CRNAs, nurses, and other members of the perioperative team while caring for a diverse patient population in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Valley Regional Hospital has continued to evolve alongside the needs of its community and today provides a broad range of inpatient, emergency, surgical, and specialty services. For anesthesiologists, this means a practice with clinical variety and meaningful responsibility, while maintaining the close-knit feel and personal connections that make community medicine rewarding.
What You’ll Do
- Provide anesthesia care for adult and adolescent patients across a diverse community hospital population.
- Care for a broad range of surgical cases, with opportunities across specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, ophthalmology, and robotics.
- Provide both general and regional anesthesia, including opportunities to perform regional blocks and other procedures.
- Play an important role in supporting efficient, high-quality OR operations.
- Develop strong working relationships with your surgical and anesthesia colleagues in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Help ensure patients in Sullivan County have access to high-quality anesthesia and surgical care close to home.
- Participate in quality, safety, and practice improvement initiatives that support the anesthesia service and the hospital.
- Maintain opportunities for teaching and mentorship through the relationship with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Why You’ll Love This Practice
- Enjoy the autonomy and variety of community anesthesia while practicing within a supportive hospital environment.
- Maintain a broad general anesthesia practice rather than being limited to a narrow subspecialty.
- Work closely with surgeons and CRNAs in a collaborative model where your clinical expertise is valued.
- Become an integral part of the OR team and have a visible impact on how anesthesia care is delivered.
- Practice at a critical access hospital that is deeply connected to the community it serves.
- Enjoy 1,680 weekday clinical hours per year, with limited weekday pager call and minimal weekend commitments.
- Receive competitive shift-based compensation, with premium pay for shifts beyond standard clinical hours.
- Benefit from the resources and academic connection of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, including opportunities for teaching and professional development.
- Receive up to $15,000 in relocation assistance, based on mileage, to help make your move easier.
Live Well Outside the Hospital
- Enjoy the welcoming feel of a New Hampshire community with a strong connection to the outdoors.
- Take advantage of four-season recreation, including skiing, hiking, biking, boating, and more.
- Experience beautiful New England scenery without the congestion and pace of a major metropolitan area.
- Find family-friendly communities, excellent schools, and a great environment for putting down roots.
- Enjoy local restaurants, arts, cultural events, and community activities throughout the region.
- Take advantage of convenient access to larger communities in both New Hampshire and Vermont.
